Couple give up takeaway food to shed 20st

I very rarely eat out, it’s just not something I like to do. However, this past weekend I was taking care of errands and ended up going to Ruby Tuesday’s for lunch. I didn’t think too much about ordering a hamburger with a side of french fries and a Coke. What I later learned was that hamburger was just shy of 1,200 calories, the fries added another 400 and my best guess is the Coke added yet another 300 (of course I had more than 1 refill). All totaled this quick lunchtime break piled on nearly 1,900 calories in a single shot. Considering all the nutritional information we read is based on a 2,000 calorie per day diet, I had all of them. Suffice it to say, Ruby Tuesday’s isn’t on my list of places to return to.

Eating out may be convenient, but you’re gonna pay for it more ways than one.

And in case you didn’t know, 1 stone = 14 pounds.

A COUPLE whose stressful lives led them to reach for the takeaway menu, celebrated a new lease of life yesterday after losing almost 20 stone.

Katie and Mark Fairhead were named Mr and Mrs Slimming World 2009. The couple, from Wymondham, Norfolk, blamed takeaway dinners of fish and chips, pizza and Chinese food almost every night for their weight gain as they could not be bothered to cook after a long day at work.
